In Balerung, the Gong Gede orchestra is usually played by Genta Bhuana Sari. It is used to accompany almost all activities related to religious ceremonies in the temple, and is often associated with the concept of ngayah, which means to willingly carry out tasks or activities related to religious ceremonies without hoping for any form of remuneration. In addition to being played at religious ceremonies, this type of gamelan orchestra is also sometimes used in collaboration with more modern music such as Marching Band music to create unique musical pieces for specific events. |
